Tanker 65 is a 2001 Freightliner FL80 with a Firovac body and tank. Tanker 65 is a 2200 gallon tanker with a 1000gpm pump that has pump-and- roll capabilities, meaning we can pump water and drive at the same time. Tanker 65’s main purpose is delivering water to fires in rural areas that do not fire hydrants near by. Tanker 65 is unique to most other tankers as it is a vacuum tanker and has a special pump that allows us to fill and dump the tank faster than traditional gravity dump tankers. Tanker 65 carries rural water supply equipment such as suction hoses, drafting strainers, and 2 dump tanks. Dump tanks are large portable tanks that are set out at the scene of the fire and the tankers dump their loads of water into it and then go to a fire hydrant to refill and return to the fire. While the tanker is going to get more water, engines can pull water from the dump tank to fight the fire with. Tanker 65 also provides mutual aid to our neighboring departments to assist with water supply in a regular basis.
